1. Where is Corbett Tiger Reserve located?

Geographically, Corbett Tiger Reserve is located in the foothills of Himalayas and spreads over Pauri Garhwal, Nainital and Almora districts of Uttarakhand state in India. Ramnagar railway station in Nainital district is adjacent to the Jhirna Safari Zone in the Corbett. It is only 13 Kms away from the Ramnagar reception.

2. What is the ideal time to visit the Park?

Corbett is an ideal tourist destination for wildlife lovers all throughout the year. As there is no particular time that can guarantee wildlife spotting hence one can visit all seasons across the year. However, CTR remains closed during the monsoon seasons.

3. Where to stay in Corbett Tiger Reserve?

Situated in the lap of nature, Corbett provides various hotels and resorts with a wide range of accommodation options along with a plethora of modern amenities. For night halts, Corbett offers three tourist complexes which are located at Dhikala, Bijrani and Gairal. These forest lodges run and managed by the forest department. Let’s be clear that if you are expecting for the much of luxury and multi cuisine restaurant, you will be disappointed at this point of time. Please note that this is not the exact place for those who are looking for ultra-modern luxury amidst wild. No Television or Wi-Fi and sporadic mobile connectivity is available inside the lodge. These lodges offers only basic living standard in the wild. If you talk about the advantage of Dhikala forest lodge; it is located deep inside the park and offers breathtaking view of the Ramganga reservoir. The facilities provided are basic, rooms and bathroom are clean, and foods are basic and nourishing.

Some of the best hotels and resorts are located outside the park, run by the private tour leaders. These luxurious hotels/ resorts are located at or around the fringes of Jim Corbett National park. If you would like to experience wilderness with luxury at its best, the option to stay outskirts of national park is the most suitable.

4. Which is most appropriate accommodation option at Jim Corbett? Should it be inside (Dhikala Forest Lodge) or outside (Private Resorts & Hotels) at Corbett Jungle area?

If you are looking for a perfect blend of elegance and modern luxury in the vicinity of Corbett then Private Forest Lodges are better choices to opt.

Though, Dhikala Forest Lodge is the best place to be in but it is little bit costly and to get accommodation is a tedious affair. They are managed by forest department, if you want confirmed booking at Dhikala Forest Lodge, request need to make minimum 60 days in advance. There is limited accommodation so government follows first-come- get-first method to allot the seats.

5. How to book safari online?

Permits for day Safari can be booked here Permits are issued by the forest department for a specific zone. Below mention are the important Jeep Safari Booking Terms:

  • Jeep Safari at Corbett National Park is conducted by government in shifts only i.e. Morning and Evening time only
  • Morning Safari drives starts at 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and Evening 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • To request for online booking, provide us All visitors name, age, sex and Govt. approved ID number
  • We advice all visitors to intimate us for your planned tour 90 days before the date of ypur actual visit .

6.Is there any provision of Night Safari/ moving on foot inside the Corbett Tiger Reserve?

Night Safaris are not allowed inside the Corbett Tiger Reserve. This may cause disturbance to the wild animals while they rest in their own natural habitat at night. As a matter of fact that nowhere in India Night Safari is conducted. People use this term as Joy Ride and they enjoy night safari far away from the forested area. Visitors are not allowed to walk on foot or getting off their vehicles during safari. It is strictly prohibited due to security reasons.

7. Corbett Tiger Reserve Zoned Vs Sitabani Zone ?

Sitabani is a beautiful landscape forest area but it is not the part of Corbett Tiger Reserve. Though, Sitabani is the first and the only zone for bird watching in Jim Corbett. The forest area in the Sitabani is open round the year for safari tour and there are no limits of vehicles entering the zone. But it is not so in the Corbett Tiger reserve area. During monsoon the park is closed and only 60 vehicles are allowed to enter in each shift and in a specific zone of the park.

8. What necessary documents do need to carry before you go for Jeep Safari?

All visitors to Corbett are required to carry any one of the Government issued ID cards (voter ID, Driving License, PAN card Govt. Employee Card, Student ID) and they are required to produce the same on demand by officials of Corbett for verification at the entry gate.
